Start the day by visiting São João de Tarouca Church, built by the monks of the Cistercian Order, during the formation of the kingdom that would become Portugal.

Continue the historical visit following the Cistercian paths, heading to the village of Salzedas, here you will find the third largest Portuguese church: the Santa Maria de Salzedas, church and monastery.

Stroll through Ucanha and enjoy the medieval architecture of the Fortified Tower Bridge, that used to be one of the main entrance on the Monks Lands.

During the day, we will have some time to taste the famous local Sparkling Wine.

The lunch break will be on a local restaurant, where you will savour the wonderful traditional gastronomy.

The visit continues through the city of Lamego, where the Portuguese Courts gathered and and officiated the coronation of D. Afonso Henriques and established laws to regulate dynastic succession in Portugal.

On the Downtown area you can visit the Cathedral of Lamego and admire its amazing Medieval Gothic architecture. From this area you will also be able to enjoy the traditional 18 th Century architecture visible in the various monuments around.

Then, go to the historic centre, where you can visit the Castle, walk through the medieval streets until you arrive to the famous church of Almacave, the place where took place the reunion of the Portuguese Courts.

End your visit to Lamego with the city’s ex libris: the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Sanctuary, enjoying the views over the city, and the magnificent construction devoted to the virgin Mary.

At the end of the tour you will be dropped off back at your hotel.
